Profile

History

The Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering (PSMTL) at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has a long history rooted in the development of the Faculty of Engineering. This journey began with the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering on October 15, 1960, which was previously known as the Academy of Engineering and founded on October 20, 1958. This transformation was part of the grand vision of leading engineers such as Ir. Jacob Rais, Prof. Ir. Soemarman, and others, to establish a higher education institution for engineering in Semarang.

In 1998, UNDIP officially launched the Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Engineering (S1 Environmental Engineering), demonstrating the university’s commitment to environmental education. This commitment was further strengthened with the establishment of the Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering (PSMTL) on December 1, 2018, pursuant to the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (No. 698/UN7.P/HK/2018).

Since its inception, PSMTL has focused on producing environmental engineers capable of addressing today’s environmental challenges. The program achieved “Good” accreditation in 2021 (Accreditation Decision No. 11337/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/X/2021). This accreditation serves as official recognition of PSMTL’s academic quality and governance. However, PSMTL does not stop here—the program continues to strive for quality improvement with the goal of achieving “Excellent” accreditation in the next evaluation period. These improvements are implemented through enhancements in governance, academic services, faculty quality, and facilities.

The PSMTL curriculum is designed to keep pace with industry developments and environmental issues, providing a comprehensive learning experience for students. The program is committed to producing graduates who are ready to contribute to sustainable environmental solutions, both at the national and global levels.
